@Dr. Martin van Nostrand Aloha Editor is “Edit in Place”, see my comment above for why that isn’t always a solution. It’s a solution for one problem but not for all.

@Emily Heath we’ve found MarkItUp solves a lot of the problems of formatting Textile as it inserts it correctly. As I say I don’t think it is the ultimate solution but I do think a solution that provides an interface between the user and the HTML which is rendered out to the site is important. That might not be visible for the user – maybe they don’t see the Textile/Markdown or whatever tags – but as a developer I want to control the mark-up.

.. and no, no Textile here. This is WordPress, I think you can use Textile in WP comments but that’s probably something for if I ever have time to redesign this site 🙂
