Couldn’t agree more. Thanks for having the guts to fight back against the likes of Heilmann and his Smashing Magazine cohorts and vote for sanity. So yeah we’ve got a good scenario in terms of innovation, but it’s not perfect whereas it may well be in a couple of years. So why shiv all sorts of crap into our sites instead of just waiting two years? No reason! I’d much rather go back and change a few divs to asides, header, footer etc tags in my templates in two years time than put up with the joke that IE.Old doesn’t apply CSS to those tags at all. Recently got caught in a situation like that after being forced to work on a project using the almighty shiteload of web development intelligentsia political correctness: drupal, html5, etc (you name it, it was thrown in there). Madness.
