Linux in schools

When I read stuff like this, I have to wonder why schools are so tied to Microsoft software. When there are alternatives. It irritates me that an already underfunded school system is being made to pay out stupid money for licensing fees – when a lot of the work that the computers are needed for could be completed on machines running Linux, and the eventual mass of well-versed Linux users coming out of schools might make things interesting!
